RV Shower Upgrade
For the most part, RV showers are not user friendly, especially if you are tall. The tub Is tiny, and the shower head is low. Visually they leave something to be desired. That being said you have options. There is a tub and tile spray that you can put onto of the tub and surround if you are just looking to brighten the color. For us, we take out the entire tub and surround and make an epoxy shower.
For this you need, purple foam board, a new shower pan, the new shower fixtures if you choose, and the epoxy, we use Stonecoat countertop epoxy and whichever color pigment you decide. Then we cut the foam board to the side of the 3 walls you need. You need to paint the board with whatever base color you want to be the undertone. When in doubt white is a safe choice. Then set up for your epoxy pour. We watched YouTube videos from Stonecoat before we started. Epoxy will be the most expensive portion of your purchase, but it is worth it. The foam saves cost, and it is light.
Once you are set up, the paint has dried, you are able to do a epoxy pour over the boards and watch them dry. One they are dried; they will be waterproof and able to install. We glue the back to be safe, mount and then also screw into the wall. We still use caulking around the edges of the boards and especially where it meets the shower pan. Its more prep work than anything but this allows you to raise the shower head up over the foam board for the added height.
In the shower in Bessie, we actually built our own shower pan with plywood and then painted over it with flex seal so it was water tight and this allowed us to customize how low we dropped the floor.
